As we always say, it is not necessary to take a plane to travel far ... sometimes we just need to leave home and enjoy a different atmosphere in one of the many ethnic restaurants in Barcelona.

On Friday we returned to Vietnam thanks to the Bun Bo restaurant ... how cool it was to remember our passage through this country thanks to its extraordinary food, mmm how good everything was! The restaurant is located in the heart of Raval, a few meters from the Macba. As soon as you enter, you realize that the place is special: colored paper lamps hanging from the ceiling, Chinese dragons decorating the walls, typical Vietnamese hats used as lamps ... come on, the place is beautiful! In addition, Tania, the waitress who has served us, and Giovanni, the person in charge, have been super friendly and have told us little things about this delicious cuisine.

We start the evening with the beer on duty, this time the Singaporean Tiger and a mix of starters consisting of: wontons, nems, summer rolls and pork bombs.

NEMS: They are Vietnamese rolls with fried rice paper and fillings. There were two, one of minced pork with rice and vegetable noodles and the other replaced the meat with tofu ... Delicious!

GOI CUON: (Summer rolls). In this case, the rice paper is raw and filled with lettuce, coriander, mint, shrimp and rice noodles. They are served at room temperature and soaked in an exquisite cashew sauce.

WONTONS: They are a kind of dumplings made with stuffed and fried wonton pasta. There was one of vegetables and another of shrimp. They are served with sweet and sour sauce.

PIG PUMPS: some bombs of rice and beans stuffed with minced pork and fried. They are served with nuoc cham Vietnamese sauce.

Second we take the star dish of Vietnamese cuisine: the soup pho bo. That here, besides being very rich, is giant! The pho bo is a soup of rice noodles with thin slices of veal (there is also the chicken version: pho ga).

But beware! Do not think it is a boring dish: each pho is different and has the touch of the cook on duty. The soup broth is super tasty and flavored, and apart you can "customize" your pho with the fresh ingredients they serve: coriander, mint, lime, nuoc man, chili, soy ...

We also tried the thit gà voi xoai: a plate of stewed chicken with mango, ginger, onion and caramel. It is accompanied by white rice. I really was to suck my fingers.

With everything we had eaten, we were full, full, but as soon as we saw the “Vietnamese Affogato” dessert menu, we couldn't resist the temptation: we remembered the first Vietnamese coffee we tried at MUI NE and ordered it. When he arrived at our table, we knew we were right ...

The Vietnamese coffee is prepared by placing a filter on the glass that drops the coffee drop by drop ... in addition this dessert carried a scoop of vanilla ice cream, oreo chips and condensed milk: sublime!

We leave the restaurant delighted, so we recommend it to anyone who has already visited Vietnam or who has not: you will see that it is a gastronomy that will make you fall in love!
